Water Mitigation and Mold Remediation

SERVPRO of Centennial Hills received a call from a Las Vegas business owner in regards to their water heater leaking. The owner was very concerned if there was damaged wet materials and wondered why the strong pungent odor coming from his water heater closet.

When we arrived the plumbing leak was fixed and the first thing we noticed was a strong “mushroom”like smell permeating in the area. We needed to see how wet the walls were so we used our Penetrating moisture meter on the drywall and it indicated high moisture levels. We also checked that particular areas room temperature which was quite humid because of the water heater making it warm. The owner had no idea that his janitorial water closet was a perfect agricultural habitat for mold growth.

After probing and assessing we indicated to the customer he needed SERVPRO to start cutting away drywall because of the possibility of mold growth causing that musty smell.
